Blood and plasma donation drive

We are putting together a Seva Sangat team to give blood and plasma together with Canadian Blood Services. One donation can help several people, and there is no synthetic substitute for plasma. Every dose of it starts with a donor, and Canada currently collects far less than its patients need.

Canadian Blood Services runs the clinic and performs all collection. We never collect, screen donors or handle blood. Our part is filling the appointment book, getting people to the door, and sitting with anyone who is nervous about their first time.

You do not need to wait for us. You can book a donation yourself at any time at blood.ca or on 1 888 236 6283. Tell us if you do, because it still counts as part of what our community gave.

Pizza and pop night

For: People living outside

A hot meal handed out in person to people living outside. Pizza and drinks ordered from a licensed restaurant and taken out by our volunteers on the night.

No queue, no forms, no names taken and no photographs of anyone. A person eating a meal from us is a neighbour, not a case study. Volunteers who come out are asked to hold to that without exception.

We do not cook and we cannot accept home cooked food. In British Columbia, food handed out to the public has to come from an approved commercial food business, so buying it from a restaurant is the safest and simplest way to do this well. Before the night we also contact the environmental health officer at our local health authority, tell them exactly what we are doing, and follow whatever they ask. That approval is free, and we will not go out without it.

Why there are no dates yet

Both events depend on things we do not control on our own: a clinic slot from Canadian Blood Services, and a restaurant, a route and enough volunteers for the meal night. Our team is working on all of it. We would rather leave this page honest than put up a date we might have to move. Ask us to tell you and we will, the same day it is set.

Liability cover in place before any public event, and criminal record checks for anyone whose role brings them into contact with children or people in a vulnerable situation.
